Best Breweries in Austin

Austin is home to some of the best breweries in Texas, and we're here to help you discover the best places for sunshine and patio sipping. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly spot or a dog-friendly patio, we've got a list of breweries for you to check out this fall.

Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden

In addition to more than 100 beers on tap, this brewery offers dozens of house-made sausages to accompany that beverage. Live music is offered on a regular basis, which completes the fun atmosphere on Rainey Street. Do note that this place can get quite busy at times and, as a result, wait times can be extensive.

St Elmo Brewing Company

As stated on its website, St Elmo Brewing Company loves "all styles of beer and people" and "is dedicated to brewing exceptional beer." Customers have noted that employees here are very knowledgeable about the beer that they serve and can answer just about any questions about them. Like Banger's, St Elmo offers community-style seating.

Austin Beerworks

This is one of the city's most popular breweries, winning impressive awards over the years including in the category of light lager at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival. One of its best features for those visiting is its taproom, which is where you can get specialty drinks that are only available there. Their food truck sells things like burgers, sausage and bratwurst - all perfect to accompany your drink.

512 Brewing Company

This welcoming brewery is intimate and inviting. It's the perfect destination for those looking for a local brewery that will provide a more relaxing ambiance than is sometimes the case at the more popular breweries in the area. 512 Brewing does not offer food, so be sure to eat elsewhere or bring food in from somewhere else.

Live Oak Brewing Company

This brewery, which sits on the Colorado River, offers a nice lawn to relax on. Live Oak even plays host to a Family Day every month that provides entertainment for people of all ages and things like bounce houses. Many young and old also take advantage of its on-site disc golf course. Of course, the microbrews are memorable as well as they keep people coming back to Live Oak.

Jester King Brewery

This place, which is located 20 miles west of downtown Austin in Dripping Springs, is well worth the trip. It provides a nice blend of a charming atmosphere with dozens of house beers that are respected by beer lovers throughout the world. The staff is known for being especially knowledgeable about what they're serving as well. It offers an extensive outdoor space, providing visitors with plenty of room to spread out.
